Hecho en Colombia: El Futuro de la Energía (2018)
I was the general producer for this one-hour documentary made by Pacha Films for Discovery Channel Español and the Colombian Association of Oil and Gas.
SYNOPSIS
This one-hour documentary explores the various issues surrounding the oil industry in Colombia. The third largest oil-producing region in South America, Colombia depends on oil exploration for both subsistence and exportation, with revenue from the industry comprising a significant share of their national product. However, its growing unpopularity and the threat of environmental damage has led many communities to reject the use of their land for oil exploration. Others push for the diversification of the economy and a gradual shift towards renewable energy. We travel to Colombia’s most oil-rich regions to explore one of its largest oil field in Campo Castilla, how teams are deployed to manage oil spills, an ongoing popular consult in Morelia, and a solar farm in Valle del Cauca.
